Subject: Condemnation of the Expelling of the Acting Australian High Commissioner to Fiji

The Fiji Democracy and Freedom Movement (FDFM) strongly condemn the latest expulsion of Australia’s top diplomat from Fiji.

Such actions can only be described as outrageous and wrong and confirms the maturity level, diplomatic and leadership amateurism, simplistic thought processes and mental capacity of those making the decision.

When will Commodore Bainimarama learn that there is no room for vindictiveness in national leadership?

When will Commodore Bainimarama start thinking about what he may be doing wrong that the rest of the world already knows?

Such action harms Fiji more than it harms Australia and again displays the lack of well thought-out actions before execution. When a national leader cannot put the nations well being above one’s own selfish agenda, then it is time to ship out.

FDFM commends Australia’s restrain action of not expelling Fiji’s lone high commission official from Canberra in a tit for tat action.

The level of restrain showed by Canberra is refreshing and displays the gulf between a matured democratic nation and the child like antics of a tin pot dictatorship.

We hope and appeal that the world does not judge nor associate the antics of Commodore Bainimarama and his stooges with the collective maturity and intellectual sophistication of the people of Fiji.
