If I were a journalist or a media mogul I would have the understanding to write at length on the persecution of the Fiji Times, but since that is not the area of my expertise as an observer I have very great fears that this action by the illegal military government of Fiji is much much more than just the muzzling and control of the media, it has everything to do with what I have always said in the past, the annihilation of the Fijian race by deleting our history and our National Icons.
The Fiji Times is very much a part of our National Treasures, in fact we should have a public holiday for this organization to acknowledge and be thankful that they have recorded our history unfold for decades. What is said on Radio and heard on TV comes in from one ear and goes out the next, what is published on the Internet can be amended or deleted, but not the Fiji Times.
The Fiji Times have documented photographed and being an integral part of our common public heritage and I thank the ultimate owner, the management and staff right through to when it was first published.
I salute you for your bravery courage and determination to have come to Fiji in the first place, to have documented the wonderful years and memories of our vibrant diverse society so that we would never forget our roots.
Imagine if the Fiji Times no longer existed which is what this illegal government intend.
What would happen to all the archives and photographs, our joys and tears, our success and our failures, in essence our unique Fijian way of Life?
The "Tiny Minority" of Ostensibly Malefic Persons that form the philosophy behind Frank Bainimarama's throne do not kill the flowers and the branches they head straight for the root of our heritage, its called GENOCIDE without the blood and you will not realize it until your great grandchild visits you at the old peoples home and asks you one simple question, WHO AM I?
