  • Action needed over cowardly Fiji regime

THE GCB (December 16) reported that Bulletin journalist Steve McCully was refused entry to Fiji purely because he had worked as a journalist for The Fiji Times, an organisation that refuses to bow to the cowardly regime led by Colonel `Banana-rama'.

He has sacked the judiciary, banned political meetings, applied censorship on news organisations, deported critics and cut public service wages while increasing his military goons' pay.

Why is that Australia, as the dominant South Pacific economy, does nothing about this tinpot dictator?

The argument that any action against Fiji will hurt the people of that nation is cowardly hogwash; we need to start implementing severe economic sanctions.
