An Enlightened and Progressive iTaukei Society
It isn't only odd but rather surprising that we still have a Ministry of Indigenous Affairs in the Republic of the Fiji Islands headed by Meli Bai our illegal Permanent Secretary.
What is its purpose?
"An Enlightened and Progressive iTaukei Society"
How does it say it intends to achieve its purpose?
“The development of relevant policies, programmes and legislations;
The arrangement and nurturing of smart partnerships with our stakeholders;
The conduct of focused capacity-building initiatives, and;
The empowerment of the Indigenous Fijian people through an appropriate institutional framework of governance”.
They are trying to reinvent the wheel in a framework that was established and entrenched in our 1997 Constitution, ten years before even the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of Rights of Indigenous Peoples in September 2007 which the Military Government of Fiji and their rep decided conveniently not to attend.
You see as much as politicians would hate to admit it, all the answers are found in our 1997 Constitution and the 50/50 by 2020 Development Plan and all that these morons will do is copy and paste since they do not seem to have brains of their own.
What has this Meli Bai's Ministry achieved under the junta in 3 years?
Absolutely Nothing.
