Australian High Commissioner Refused Re-entry to Fiji to Pack Up
The stand-off between Fiji and Australia over the expulsion of diplomats is worsening.
Fiji has refused to allow Australia's High Commissioner to return to the country temporarily to pick up his belongings.
High Commissioner James Batley was in Australia on holiday when the expulsion order came.
The Government sought permission for him to be allowed to return briefly to pack up his things.
But the Fijian Government is understood to have refused, forcing other diplomatic staff to retrieve them.
