  • Birthplace of the 2006 Fiji Coup

On the 9th of June 2009 on the Raw Fiji News blog, IslandBoy57 had this to say about the origins of the 2006 coup-de-tat in Fiji:

"The birthplace of 2006 coup – at Solanki’s residence

We will soon be naming, shaming and eventually prosecuting all those who brought about the 2006 coup on the nation. We can confidently disclose that the coup was hatched at a party thrown by Ramesh Solanki at his residence in Suva. The first to sign up was none other than Mahendra Chaudhry, the leader of the Fiji Labour Party, and a coup victim himself. Solanki, the president of the Fiji Textile Clothing and Footwear threw a big party for the good, the bad and the ugly of the society. And, it was there that the coup was hatched. We will be unclothing the other shadowy figures at that party who signed up to the 2006 coup, with Voreqe later famously “stepping into the shoes” of the President, which was “bought” from the Solankis and robing himself as interim Prime Minister. More later!!!!!"

The reason I wished to highlight this allegation is simple. We have had too many coups in our tiny island nation, and if someone does eventually get prosecuted for the crime then it has always been the "fall guys" on center stage who all have come from an obscure and relatively menial financial background and intellect, never the people who mastermind, fund and fuel these coups for their own economic prosperity or global ambitions.

This time around we must investigate the shadowy figures first before the mentally challenged military buffoons.
